Welcome to ScanMyPet. ScanMyPet is an AI-powered pet wellness platform that helps pet owners analyze pet photos, track activities, maintain pet history, and receive AI-assisted insights. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the ScanMyPet mobile app, website, and related services.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect:

1.2 Pet Information

  • Activity history and health timeline entries

  • App usage statistics
  • Crash reports and diagnostics

1.4 Subscription Information

If you purchase premium features, payments are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. We only store subscription status and transaction references. We do not store payment card details.

3. AI Processing & Automated Analysis

ScanMyPet uses AI systems to analyze pet photos and activity snapshots. We currently use Google Gemini and OpenAI models. Your data may also be processed and stored using AWS infrastructure services.

When you submit a photo for scanning, our AI models analyse visual features to generate health insights. This process is automated. No human reviews your pet's images during standard analysis unless you contact support.

AI-generated insights are informational only and should not replace professional veterinary advice. We do not use your uploaded pet images to train public AI models.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve our website and services. These include:

  • Essential cookies — required for the website to function correctly
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site (e.g. page views, session duration)
  • Preference cookies — remember your settings and choices
  • Marketing cookies — used to deliver relevant content and measure ad effectiveness

You can control cookie preferences via the consent banner shown on your first visit. Declining non-essential cookies will not affect core app functionality. To withdraw consent at any time, clear your browser cookies and revisit the site.

5. App Permissions

To provide its core scanning features, the ScanMyPet mobile app may request the following device permissions:

  • Camera — to capture photos of your pet for AI analysis
  • Photo Library / Media Access — to select existing photos from your device
  • Notifications — to send you scan results, reminders, and health alerts (optional)
  • Internet Access — required to transmit photos to our AI processing servers

All permissions are requested at the time of use and can be revoked at any time through your device settings. Revoking camera or photo access will limit scanning functionality.

6. International Data Transfers

ScanMyPet operates globally. Your data, including pet photos submitted for analysis, may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States, where our cloud infrastructure and AI providers are based.

We ensure that any such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required under GDPR.

7. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract — to provide the services you have signed up for
  • Legitimate interests — to improve our platform, prevent fraud, and ensure security

  • Google Gemini and OpenAI (AI scan analysis)
  • Analytics and crash monitoring services
  • Authentication and storage providers

All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements and are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes. We do not sell your personal information.
